My name is Mike Eccles. I'm married with two adult children and we live in Nunthorpe on the South side of Middlesbrough in the North East of England.
Until quite recently I worked as a Human Resources Manager for an international chemical company. I had a fantastic employment experience, including meeting Bill Clinton and the Prince of Wales, and two flights on Concorde, but after nearly 32 years with one employer (initially as a chemical engineer, my degree subject), I have set off on an adventure, moving into the world of self-employment providing HR support to those who need it most. Here is a link to my business web site at www.hrhelpinghand.com.
We are a Christian family, and worship at The Church of the Lamb of God in Redcar. We enjoy contemporary Christian music and you will find many of our favourite resources identified on my Christian Links page (with some information about each). I have been given the great privilege of becoming an Elder of the church which means that I take my turn at leading Sunday meetings (a very great personal challenge). The church is a registered charity and I am one of the trustees, and within the Eldership and Trustees group I have been asked to take on responsibility for much of the church's administration. I am also responsible for the running of the sound desk which supports our talented worship team. When I am free I join our street ministry team in the centre of Redcar from 10:00 am on Thursdays.
I enjoy my garden (although it is a challenge to maintain it) and gardens in general, and have dabbled in bird watching, initially through the influence of an old friend from school days, but now reinvigorated by the opening of RSPB’s Saltholme reserve nearby.
I also spend time reading, mainly non-fiction these days, and take great pleasure from inspirational words, some of which I've reproduced in the Inspiration section of this site.
I have a reawakened interest in photography now that digital technology has advanced in quality, so wherever possible if there are photographs on this site, they have come about through my own efforts. I share many of my photographs on the ePHOTOzine web site.
